COLUMBIA, IL. (KMOX) - Police continue to look for a man who attempted to abduct an eleven year old boy in Columbia Illinois.

It happened around 8 oclock Friday night in the 100 block of West Locust in Columbia.  The suspect, who police believe was driving a maroon van, tried to pull the boy into the vehicle but the child fought him off and ran.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid to late 30’s, medium build,  short brown hair and a light goatee, with a mole near his left nostril.  Police say he was wearing a green, Green Bay Packer hooded sweatshirt.

The boy told police his van had a red license plate in the front with white letters.  Police are asking anyone who may see this vehicle to contact them.
