COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - James Franklin made a strong showing in Missouri’s first formal scrimmage of fall camp, going 18 for 22 for 228 yards.
Franklin has proved a fast healer from surgery on his throwing shoulder in March as the Tigers prepare for their first season in the Southeastern Conference. Tailback Kendial Lawrence scored the lone touchdown with a 1-yard run to cap a 75-yard drive.
Defensive end Michael Sam had two sacks, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble, tackle Sheldon Richardson had three tackles for loss and linebacker Will Ebner had two tackles for loss.
Wide receiver T.J. Moe (hamstring), tight end Eric Waters (knee), offensive tackle Justin Britt (foot) and cornerback Kip Edwards (leg) were among players held out of Thursday’s scrimmage.
