Lake of the Ozarks
LAKE OZARK, MO. (KMOX) - Two beaches are closed to swimmers celebrating the last weekend of summer, one in Northwest Missouri and one at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The Grand Glaize Beach at Lake of the Ozarks and the beach at Watkins Mill north of Kansas City will both be closed this weekend due to high bacteria levels, according to the Department of Natural Resources.
But the DNR’s Rene Bungart says not to be concerned because the overall water quality at the Lake of the Ozarks is tested and is safe.
She says the high bacteria at the two closed beaches could be from recent rain water bringing contaminated soil down to the beach. Bungart says overall, the Lake is still testing at safe levels for boating and swimming.
She says to be safe, its always a good idea to shower after swimming in the Lake.
