Isaac’s Legacy: Lots And Lots Of Local Rainfall

WELDON SPRING, Mo. (KMOX) –  We now know how much rain was recently dumped on our region by the remnants of Hurricane Isaac.

National Weather Service officials say totals in the St. Louis area ranged from just over 2 inches in places like Harvester, Mehlville and Manchester up to nearly 3-and-a-half inches in Fenton.

But Isaac really took its time passing through south-central Illinois, resulting in eye-popping totals like 4.5 inches in Carlyle, 6.85 inches in Greenville and 7.77 inches in Centralia.

Other rainfall totals as a result of Isaac:

Jerseyville 3.42
Cahokia-Parks 3.14
Ballwin 3.07
Jennings 3.03
Weldon Springs 2.97
Valley Park 2.92
University City 2.72
Ladue 2.58
Edwardsville 2.50
Belleville 2.22
St. Peters 2.22
Hillsboro 2.21
Lambert Field 2.16

Officials with the Weldon Spring office of the National Weather Service say the rainfall was welcome and will help ease drought conditions, but won’t end the drought altogether.
