St. Louis Student Dies in Assualt at NW Missouri State
MARYVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) — A Northwest Missouri State University student from St. Louis has died from injuries suffered in an off-campus assault.
The Maryville Public Safety Department said Tomarken Smith was assaulted about 1:20 a.m. Friday near the corner of Fourth and Market streets in Maryville.
The 21-year-old was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Health Services where he was pronounced dead. No other details about the assault have been released.
Authorities are questioning several suspects. The news release says the Nodaway County prosecuting attorney is expected to file charges against those taken into custody.
Smith was a senior pre-med major and a personal trainer. He graduated from Oakville High School.
