ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - This coming week, McDonald’s will begin listing calorie counts next to every menu item you see at the counter and in the drive-thru.

A local dietitian says it’s about time.

Barnes-Jewish registered dietician Mary Ellen Beindorf says people need the nutrition information available so they can make a healthy choice.

“Many studies show that eating out in itself just leads to obesity,” Beindorf said. “So when people have information and they can make healthy choices, that’s good.”

Some of the posted calorie counts will include an Angus Deluxe burger at 750 calories, a Double Cheeseburger – 440 calories – and six Chicken McNuggets totaling 280 calories.
