TROY, MO (KMOX) – Three Lincoln County schools were on lock down this afternoon over fears that a man was going to open fire at one of the schools.
According to police, a female students told a resource officer just before 1 p.m. that her boyfriend had made threats to kill his family and then open fire with multiple guns at Troy Buchanan High School. The student said her boyfriend had shown her three loaded handguns and an assault rifle he planned on using in the shooting.
Police say the unidentified man even listed the students he would shoot at New Horizons High School.
The suspect said the shooting would occur at 1 o’clock. Three schools – Troy Buchanan High School, Troy Middle School, and New Horizons High School – were locked down as a precaution.
The suspect was contacted by phone around 2 o’clock and urged to turn himself in. He was taken into custody a short time later.
No charges have been filed and the suspect’s name has not been released.
