ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – American Airlines will lay-off 164 employees in St. Louis and another 42 in Kansas City, according to the St. Louis Business Journal. The company considers the cuts permanent.

Most of the St. Louis workers will lose their jobs by December 16th. Included are airport agents, service clerks, maintenance employees, mechanics, and management.

American is in bankruptcy and is trying to reduce labor costs. It purchased St. Louis-based T.W.A. out of bankruptcy back in 2001.
