Metro-East Police Officer Shot In The Hand

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL (KMOX) – A Fairview Heights police officer was shot in the hand during what was supposed to be a routine traffic stop early this morning.

The officer was pulling over a suspicious vehicle and was walking back with the driver’s ID when that driver shot the officer. Other officers returned fire, hitting the suspect and leading to a car chase.

The chase ended in Centreville at Lake and Pershing when the suspect crashed into a garage. There was also a female passenger in the car.

Charges are pending.
