ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It’s official: Aldermanic President Lewis Reed will challenge St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay in next March’s Democratic primary.
Reed told supporters this morning that the election will offer a clear choice.
“We can accept those things that divide us or we can work towards a common purpose to improve our community,” Reed said. “We can continue to develop correctionary policies or we can bring the brightest minds together to develop long-term strategies to turn St. Louis into a world class destination.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Slay says he’s ready to face Reed.
“This is not something I take for granted, of course, and I start off – I’m proud to say – with a broad base of support.”
Slay says that includes support from business, organized labor, and Congressman Lacy Clay.
