Man Accused Of DUI In Crash That Killed Pedestrian
EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) – A southwestern Illinois man has been accused of drunkenly causing a hit-and-run wreck that killed a pedestrian.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports St. Clair County prosecutors have charged 29-year-old Marlin Turner of Cahokia with aggravated driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Investigators allege Turner was driving a Jeep Cherokee on Oct. 3 in East St. Louis when it hit and killed 48-year-old Orlando Wilson.
Authorities say they found the vehicle blocks away with a passenger still inside. The driver was located later.
Wilson’s mother says her son was walking to the commuter train station on his way to his girlfriend’s Belleville home when he was hit.
Online court records do not show whether Turner has an attorney.
