Poplar Bluff Police Find Child Porn on Abduction Suspect’s Computer

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Police investigating a man accused of abducting a 5-year-old Missouri girl say they found images on his computer and a video on his cellphone that indicates he sexually assaulted the girl and others in the poplar Bluff area.

Jeffrey Dean Shelton has not been charged with a sex crime involving the abducted 5-year-old, but Poplar Bluff Deputy Police Chief Jeff Rowland says the cyber crimes unit uncovered disturbing videos.

“We have found incriminating videos of the suspect sexually assaulting our victim.”

He says the cyber crimes unit will be going through several other digital devices and suspects they’ll find more.

Poplar Bluff Police Chief Danny Whiteley says investigators also found evidence that two other girls from the Poplar Bluff area had been victimized.

Shelton is charged with child kidnapping and other crimes for allegedly abducting the girl from her home Wednesday in Poplar Bluff. Shelton was arrested later that day. The child was with him.

Police plan to seek additional charges but offered no timeline. Shelton’s attorney declined comment.
