KRAKOW, Mo. (AP) — An eastern Missouri man and woman are accused of about a dozen residential burglaries in and around the small Franklin County town of Krakow.
The Washington Missourian reports 27-year-old Joseph Lauth of Hickory Ridge is charged with burglary and stealing. Charges are also expected against a 24-year-old woman from Washington.
Both were arrested Tuesday after a suspicious vehicle was spotted near the site of one of the break-ins.
The sheriff’s office says Lauth told investigators the woman would knock on a door and if no one answered, he would go inside and steal items, mainly jewelry. Investigators say Lauth told them the pair traded the goods for heroin in St. Louis.
Online court records did not show an attorney for Lauth.
