ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) - You might be planning to spend Thanksgiving at home with your family, but if you’re planning to spend tonight out with your friends, ScooterGuy wants to give you a free ride home.
ScooterGuys founder Michael Oliver says the company is teaming up with Captain Morgan to offer the free rides.
But he says you’ll have to make a reservation, and soon, because time slots are filling up. After you do, you’ll get a confirmation email and head out to your destination, knowing you have a ride back.
On Wednesday night, a driver will show up with a scooter that can fit in your trunk, drive you home in your own car, and then drive himself back on his scooter. Oliver says the scooters are made in Italy and can go about 30 mph.
During the holidays sometimes the drivers work in teams, two drivers showing up to pick you up, one driving you home and the other following to give the driver a ride.
Oliver says last year the company gave 150 free rides home on Thanksgiving Eve, and expect closer to 200 this year.
Oliver and his wife founded the company in 2008, and offer a variety of services. They’ve since opened branches in Kansas City, Knoxville and Columbia.
