Trooper Kyle Deatherage died Nov. 26 after being struck on I-55 by a semi truck. He had been an Illinois State trooper since May 2009.

LITCHFIELD, Ill. (KMOX) – An Illinois State motorcycle trooper has died after being struck by a semi truck during a traffic stop near Litchfield on Monday.
The accident happened around 9:00 a.m. on northbound Interstate 55.
State Police say Trooper Kyle Deatherage died at the scene. He had been a member of the Illinois State Police since May 31, 2009.
“It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I announce the tragic death of Trooper Kyle Deatherage. Trooper Deatherage left a legacy of courage and duty and today he is surrounded by the respect of his fellow officers and by the love of his friends and family. Our hearts are heavy with grief, but they are also strengthened by Trooper Deatherage’s brave calling,” Illinois State Police Director Hiram Grau said.
The 32-year-old is survived by his two young children and his wife, Sarah.
There was no immediate word on any charges.
Litchfield is about 55 miles northeast of St. Louis.
