BARTELSO, Ill. (KMOX) – The Santa Fe fire chief says his colleague and friend Timothy Jansen slipped while pulling hoses from a fire truck Sunday night near Bartelso.
Adam Maue says the truck’s driver didn’t know Jensen had fallen and thought it was okay to move the truck.
That’s when Jansen was struck, suffering fatal injuries.
He was a 15-year veteran of the volunteer fire department and an owner of a Clinton County restaurant.

BARTELSO, Ill. (KMOX) – There was a fatal accident involving a firefighter in Clinton County, Illinois last night.
Officials say 45-year-old Tim Jansen with the Bartelso Fire Department was among those who responded to a residential structure fire in the 9700 block of River Road shortly before 8 pm.
Jansen was struck by a fire truck that was setting up at the scene. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
He was a 15 year veteran of the Bartelso fire department and owned a restaurant across the street from the Bartelso firehouse.
Jansen leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
