ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — St. Louis’ top prosecutor says Bob Costas missed the mark Sunday night, when he blamed the murder-suicide of Kansas City Chief’s player Jovan Belcher on the gun culture.
“This is not a gun issue this is a domestic violence issue,” Jennifer Joyce told KMOX’s Mark Readon. “Domestic violence isn’t so much about the weapon, its about the relationship and dynamic between two people.” (Listen to Joyce’s full interview here)
Costas spent 90 seconds during halftime of last night’s football game between Philadelphia and Dallas to comment about Javon Belcher. Joyce says Costas missed an opportunity to raise awareness about domestic violence.
She says that one in four woman will experience some episode of domestic violence in their life time.
The Kansas City Chief’s player Jovan Belcher shot his girlfriend and then turn the gun on himself Saturday in front of the Chief’s coach and general manager.
