Laclede Gas Seeks $48M Rate Increase

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Missouri’s largest natural gas company is seeking approval from state regulators for a $48 million rate increase.

St. Louis-based Laclede Gas Co. said Friday that it filed a rate request with the Missouri Public Service Commission to recoup money spent to maintain and operate its 16,000 miles of gas pipelines. Laclede says the increase would raise the average residential customer’s bill by $4.93 per month.

Laclede serves about 630,000 customers in St. Louis and parts of 10 counties in eastern Missouri. The company said the requested rate increase was its first in three years.

The Public Service Commission will have 11 months to decide the rate case.
