O’Fallon, MO (KMOX)- The state of Missouri has shut down an O’Fallon daycare center, after a two-year-old girl was left outside for hours on Christmas Eve.

The state department of Health and Senior Services says the action was taken against the Bright Start Academy on Homefield Road. A department report says the girl was left outside for up to four-and-a-half hours, in windchill temperatures as low as 17-point-five degrees.

The girl’s father found her outside when he came to pick her up. The girl had trouble walking. Her father took her to a local emergency room for treatment.
