ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – St. Louis just wrapped up its hottest year on record, but according to National Weather Service Meteorologist Jason Gosslin 2013 is going to be a hot one too.
That might be welcoming news for people who dislike winter, but Gosslin says spring and summer of 2013 is showing more above average temperatures.
“It looks like we have a high chance that we’ll have a warmer than normal year,” Gosslin said.
In 2012, St. Louis broke 26 records for daily high temperatures, and 20 records for warmest low temperature.
“This year the average temperature in St. Louis was 61.2 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s a full degree above the record which was set in 1921,” Gosslin said.
He says it will be hard to top 2012, but 2013 is likely to be more of the same.
Columbia, Missouri also had its hottest year on record in 2012.
