SHILOH, Ill. (KMOX) – An alert computer repair man leads police to a child pornography suspect.
Shiloh police detective David Martin says 47 year old Thomas Siefert, described as a gamer, took his computer into a repair shop in Shiloh.
A store representative tells KMOX, the employee found what he described as inappropriate files but added the sheer volume of the images of disturbing. That’s when they called police in.
Martin says the forensic investigation on Seifert’s computer took about three months. But a large amount of child pornography photos and videos were discovered. The detective says it does not appear that Seifert produced the child pornography.
The store rep says while the law does not require them to turn in such suspicious files when they find them, it’s always been their policy. Seifert faces two felony counts including Child Pornography possession and is being held on a quarter million dollar bond.
