ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) - A St. Louis County audit out today highlights questions about the relationship between executives in the Children’s Service Fund and its consultants.
For weeks, executives in the Children’s Service Fund have been denying any wrong-doing in dealings with the Excellence in Missouri Foundation.
But KMOX has learned that the audit will show there was no contract for thousands of dollars in consulting work billed to the Foundation. On the Foundation’s website, former Director Catherine Tansey and Deputy Director Julie Russell are listed as volunteers for the Foundation and their Missouri Quality Award.
County Councilmen Steve Stenger says that’s too close for comfort, claiming the allegations “point to a lack of oversight.”
“I don’t think that double-dipping was an unfair term at all,” he said. “I think that all of the individuals involved have opened themselves up to real criticism in this instance.”
Other documents obtained by KMOX question job offers which Fund executives received from organizations after giving those organizations large grants.
