ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) - The St. Louis County Council gave preliminary approval Tuesday night to a plan to place a $760 million sales tax proposal benefiting parks on the April ballot.

But County Executive Charlie Dooley isn’t taking a side on this one.

“Whatever the council does, I’m more than happy to support them,” he said. “I think there are some benefits to enhancing the St. Louis metropolitan area. If the people feel this is a benefit, and it’s in their best interest, they will vote for it.”

St. Louis City or St. Charles County would also have to approve the measure for it to generate enough money to work. If it does pass, the sales taxes would go up by 3/16 of one cent.
