GODFREY, Ill. (KMOX) – A grandfather was killed after an S.U.V. crashed into his home, late Sunday night.
He was reportedly sitting in his living room when, at about 10:45 p.m., the vehicle plowed through his front door in the 100 block of Saturn Drive. Meantime, the Madison County Sheriff reports a domestic disturbance nearby, in the 200 block of Mercury Drive.

Deputies say the suspect from the disturbance grabbed the vehicle’s keys from a family member and fled the scene, crashing a short time later.
That man then fled the crash scene on foot and was captured a short time later in the parking lot of the Beer Barrel Pub. He was arrested and is being held in the Madison County Jail.
The elderly victim was the only resident in the home.
“It was devastating,” neighbor Mike Zeigler told KMOX. “It blew the windows out of the house. It was unbelievable. It looked like a bomb went off inside.”
Zeigler said he was awakened by his kids and helped the victim’s daughter clean belongings from the home.
