UPDATE: Investigators Believe Dog May Not Have Been Thrown From Car

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Police are trying to sort out how a dog died in south St. Louis after initial reports suggested it was thrown from a moving car Thursday morning.

Police say the initial call came in just before 7:20 a.m. and it alleged a dog was thrown from a car, then struck by another vehicle at Wyoming Street and Lamp Avenue.

Police now believe the tip was blown out of proportion. They believe the animal was simply hit by a car.

Humane Society spokeswoman Jean Jay told KMOX, “at the scene our investigator did find an adult Yorkshire Terrier in the intersection unfortunately the dog was deceased.”

Police investigators believe it is not a criminal matter.
