ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Parkway school board members unanimously approved 2-million dollars in budget cuts Wednesday night.
Superintendent Keith Marty says parents showed little-to-no problem with the cuts, which include the elimination of about 40 jobs, the shortening of summer school and 6th grade camp, and the sending of bus stop notifications by e-mail instead of regular mail.
“We really wanted desperately to guard these reductions for impacting students,” Marty said. “Whether it was programs, class sizes, the opportunities that our children have and especially opportunities for children in the future.”
Marty stresses that no traditional classroom teachers are part of the cut-backs.
