CHAMPAIGN, IL (KMOX) - The University of Illinois’ Allen Hall played host this week to Annie Sprinkle, a former prostitute and adult film star who holds a PhD. in human sexuality.

The weekly itinerary of sex talks culminated in Thursday’s viewing of “Annie Sprinkle’s Amazing World of Orgasm,” a 53-minute “poetic homage to the big O featuring interviews with 26 orgasm experts.”

Born Ellen Steinberg, the 59-year-old Sprinkle lectures across the country to “spread her philosophies of sexuality and art,” the Daily Illini reported. After trading in prostitution for pornography in the early 1970s, she left pornography a decade later after the industry, in her mind, failed to properly address the AIDS epidemic.

According to the Daily Illini, attendees at Thursday’s documentary viewing and discussion had mixed reactions, with many smiling nervously or laughing but none objecting overtly.
