Professional Bull Riding: A Cowboy Bar to Join Ballpark Village
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) - Bull Riding will be the newest attraction slated to come to Ballpark Village.
In an announcement Thursday afternoon, the Cardinals and the Professional Bull Riders announced they’ll be the next tenants at the development.
Cardinals President Bill Dewitt III says the newest tenant, PBR, a Cowboy Bar, is a good anchor because its been very successful in other markets. The nearest PBR Cowboy Bar is in Kansas City, but there are six other locations around the country.
PBR Chief Operating Officer Sean Gleason describes the bar as a mixture of “cowboy cool” and “urban chic.” Not only will there be a mechanical bull and a dance floor, but PBR touts an expansive beer and bourbon menu. It’ll be about 8,000 square feet. PBR also has a Hot Country Nights Concert Series, bringing in live guests like Gretchen Wilson and Luke Bryan.
The bar is set to open with the first phase of Ballpark Village next Spring.
As for the remaining tenants, Dewitt says the development is about 75 percent full, with “serious talks” to fill the rest of the space. He says in the first phase, it will be only retail/entertainment, but further stages will almost certainly feature office and residential space.
DeWitt says as planners look to fill the remaining spots, they’ll be looking for unique attractions so as not to take business away from current downtown businesses.
