SAUGET, Ill. (KMOX) - A Sunday morning accident in the Metro-East leaves one person dead and ties up traffic for hours.
Sauget Police Chief Patrick Delaney tells KMOX News the accident happened around three o’clock on Route 3 at Yellow Brick Road.
Brooke Bahmler of Ballwin was turning onto the highway when her car was t-boned by a Jeep. Bahmler was killed. Her sister and a friend were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Chief Delaney says the three had been at Laclede’s Landing and were heading home when they missed an exit and ended up on the Poplar Street Bridge, headed for Illinois. Bahmler was turning around when she was hit.
Delaney says Bahmler was the designated driver — and it appears alcohol was not a factor.
The accident shut down Route 3 at Sauget for hours.
