ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – MoDOT caught heat after last week’s big snow and sleet storm, but do truckers and others who make a living on the road dread driving through Missouri?
According to Missouri Trucking Association President Tom Crawford the answer is no. Crawford says MoDOT has a pretty good reputation among truckers and he believes the department is actually doing a better job now than in the past, despite recent budget cuts.
“Given the resources that they have at their disposal I’ve watch them in amazement sometimes in their ability to clean the event stateside,” said Crawford. “They try to position the equipment where it’s going to be most needed.”
Crawford says MoDOT also does a good job keeping truckers and all travelers up-to-date on road conditions with highway signage, email and other technologies.
A spokeswoman for the Grain Valley based Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association says their members don’t consider Missouri’s snow response any worse than any other state.
