ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – Lambert-St. Louis International Airport plans to charge more for parking — $five for the first hour, which is twice what it is now.
Airport Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge says the idea is to discourage short-term parking by people who want to pop in the terminal and pick up someone.
“What we need to do is look at all the customers, those that are flying out that need the overnight parking and those that are picking up their customers,” Hamm-Niebruegge said.
She says you can avoid paying anything by using the free “cell-phone” lots nearby, and wait until the person you’re picking up has their luggage before you swing by the curb and get them.
The goal is to raise airport revenue $1.5 million a year by freeing up space for more long-term parking.
