ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A man who was shot while allegedly trying to break into a south St. Louis home early Wednesday morning tells police he was drunk and thought the home was his own.

According to police, a homeowner shot someone in the 4000 block of Humphrey Avenue in the Tower Grove South neighborhood. The shooter made the 911 call around one o’clock this morning, telling police he had just shot the suspected burglar.

Police followed a blood trail to find the suspect who is hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the leg. Prosecutors will decide soon if either the homeowner or suspect will face charges.
