Edwardsville Toy Store Saved By Customers

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) — It was announced on their facebook page: It’s a new day, we’ve got a 2nd chance, and the tiger is up for the challenge!

Known for its whimsical store design and imaginative message boards, Once Upon A Toy in Edwardsville was staring into the abyss after the bank unexpectedly called their loan.

But knowing there would be a lot of disappointed kids if the unique toy store closed for good, backers started a Facebook campaign (Save Once Upon a Toy) and used the crowdfunding site, crowdtilt to raise nearly $79-thousand. The store only needed $75-thousand.

Around midnight Thursday Store owner Shawntay Ray announced the exciting news saying


The Save Once Upon a Toy facebook page has 4,660 members.
