Worker Killed in Accident at Fred Weber Quarry is Identified

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (KMOX) — A worker was killed in an industrial accident at a Fred Weber Inc. quarry in Maryland Heights Wednesday evening.

Officials say the worker died when he was buried under several tons of rock during a routine rock blasting operation. He has been identified as William Sievert of St. Peters.

The accident happened around 4:00 p.m. at the quarry located at 2320 Creve Coeur Mill Road.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has been notified and Fred Weber Inc. plans to fully cooperate with their investigation.

Fred Weber Inc. released a statement saying “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bill’s family. This is a sad day for all of us at Fred Weber Inc.”

Sievert had worked for the company for 24 years
