ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — As KMOX first reported Tuesday, the Cardinals announced Friday. that English Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City will play each other at Busch Stadium May 23.
Both teams will also play in New York during a four day trip to the United States after the conclusion of the EPL season. The exhibition will be the first soccer game played in Busch Stadium III.
“We are honored to host this historic match,” Cardinals President Bill DeWitt II said. “This is a wonderful opportunity for St. Louisans to see some of the best soccer players in the world. We look forward to showcasing the versatility of Busch Stadium as a multi-use sports venue.””It’s an excellent opportunity for the club to be able to return to America so quickly after the last tour,” Chelsea Chief Executive Ron Gourlay said in a release. “We will face the strongest opposition in Manchester City and I am sure we will provide a competitive and entertaining match in St. Louis.Tickets start at $30 and go on sale April 2 at ten o’clock a.m. at the box office and online and cardinals.com/Soccer. There will be a limit of eight tickets per purchase, according to the team. A special pre-sale will be held the day prior for Cardinals season ticket holders.
