Schnucks Says Company Was Cyberattack Victim

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Schnucks Markets says it was the victim of a cyberattack that led to reports of unauthorized access to customer’s payment card information.

The supermarket chain says a computer forensic firm found evidence of computer code that would capture the magnetic stripe data on the back of payment cards.

Schnucks Chairman and CEO Scott Schnuck says they have identified the issue, and are cooperating with law enforcement, the Missouri Attorney General’s office and the credit card companies to determine the magnitude of the crime.

Schnuck says customers can continue using credit and debit cards at stores, and they apologize for any inconvenience.

Schnucks advises that if customers suspect their cards may have been compromised, they should immediately contact their credit or debit card company.
