Union Man Stole $800 in Prescription Drugs from Wentzville Pharmacy

WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) — A Union, Missouri man faces theft charges after he got behind the pharmacy counter at a Walgreens in Wentzville and stole a large quantity of prescription drugs.
Police say the pharmacist on duty confronted the suspect March 30th, around 5:30 a.m. and he left the store.
It was later determined that the medication valued at more than $800.00 dollars had been stolen.
During the investigation it was revealed that an attempt, similar in nature, had happened at the Walgreens store in Washington, Missouri earlier that morning.
Detectives from the Wentzville Police Department, working with Detectives from Washington MO Police Dept., identified the suspect as 19-year-old Joel Hughes
The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Hughes with Stealing a Controlled Substance. He is currently in the Franklin county Jail awaiting to be transferred to the St. Charles County Adult Detention Facility where he will be held on a $25000 cash bond.
