School officials have announced that classes at Parkway Central High School have been canceled due to area power outages.

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Damage from last night’s storm has forced some school officials to cancel classes Thursday.

Students at Shenandoah Elementary School will get the day off today after high winds took portions of the roof off the school. Parkway School District Facilities Director Mike Martin assessed damage last night and said “it’s very wet in six classrooms.” A photo of that damage can be seen to the left.

Meanwhile, all Hazelwood schools, along with Cross Keys Middle School and Wedgewood Elementary in the Ferguson-Florissant School District will be closed Thursday due to area power outages.

There’s no word yet on when the schools will reopen.
