SHREWSBURY, Mo. (KMOX) – Police have arrested a woman they say was working as a prostitute in suburban Shrewsbury.
Shrewsbury Police spokesman Lt. Brian Catlett said the woman rented a house in the 5100 block of Lennox and was luring customers over the Internet.
“The computer aspect of it allows for people from 20, 25 miles away from here or more to come into the community and participate in that type of crime and then leave,” Catlett said.
St. Louis County police helped with the undercover sting operation. Catlett said it began when neighbors noticed a lot of traffic.
“The neighborhood is middle class, a very quiet community. A lot of families, families with young children, some seniors in the area,” Catlett said. “This is an unusual activity.”
Charges are pending against the woman and also against a man accused of promoting prostitution.
