Charlie talks with Edward Achorn, author of “The Summer of Beer and Whiskey: How Brewers, Barkeeps, Rowdies, Immigrants, and a Wild Pennant Fight Made Baseball America’s Game”, about the German immigrant founder of the Cardinals, Chris Von der Ahe, who amassed a fortune, but died a pauper. He was buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis.
