South County Residents Petition Against Proposed Walmart

CONCORD, MO (KMOX) – A proposed Walmart Supercenter at Tesson Ferry and Butler Hill in south St. Louis County is drawing strong opposition from nearby residents.

“I think it’s not really necessary for our neighborhood, we have plenty of grocery stores,” one resident said. “Really my concern would be the traffic, the heavy trucks coming at night.

“I think it’s probably going to be a little too much traffic and stuff in this neighborhood,” another worried.

Residents are gathering petition signatures against the Walmart grocery store to present to the St. Louis County Council, which meets Tuesday. The proposed grocery store would be open 24 hours-a-day.

“We don’t need it,” an area man said. “We got Schnucks down there and there’s Dierbergs down there and everything else.”
