ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Cardinals broadcaster Mike Shannon has been named a Missouri Sports Legend, the 26th such honor given by the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.  At a luncheon in Springfield, Mo. on Thursday, a bronze bust of Shannon was unveiled.

Shannon, a St. Louis native, appeared in three World Series as a player (’64, ’67, ’68), hitting key home runs in each.  He joined the Cardinals broadcast team in 1972.

Additionally, the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame posthumously inducted Cardinal stars Curt Flood and Roger Maris, and Tom Greenwade, an area native and longtime major league scout.  The 1964 and 1967 World Championship Cardinals teams were named to the Hall’s Honor Roll of World Champions.
