ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Not one, not two, but a total of nine tornadoes ripped through the St. Louis region late Friday night.
That information is contained in a report from the St. Louis office of the National Weather Service, which says two of the tornadoes were rated EF-3, which means they contained winds measuring 136 to 165 miles per hour.
One of those touched down about four miles southwest of Weldon Spring and moved east through Harvester, Earth City, Bridgeton, Ferguson and Bellefontaine Neighbors.
Along the way it tore up a building owned by Hollywood Casino and toppled numerous large trees in Berkeley and Ferguson, many of which are still being removed.
The other EF-3 twister set down in far northeast St. Louis County and skipped across the Mississippi River, heavily damaging an industrial-warehouse near a South Roxana landfill.
No injuries were reported in Friday’s storms.
