UPDATE: Store Clerk Shot at South Side 7-Eleven

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A homicide investigation is underway at a 7-Eleven store in south St. Louis after the shooting death of the store clerk.

Police say the shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Mon Rai, a Bhutanese refugee who came to St. Louis last year with his wife and 7-year-old son. The couple was expecting a second child, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Authorities say a customer called police after finding the clerk on the floor of the convenience store at Gravois and bates. Police say he was shot in the back.

Rai was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
