UPDATE: Granite City Man Accused of Stabbing Estranged Wife to Death

GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOX) — A Granite City man faces two counts of first degree murder after he allegedly killed his estranged wife along a road in Madison County.

Authorities say the victim, Marissa Stainback, 34, of Alton, Ill. was walking with a male friend along Northgate Industrial Drive around 4 p.m. Tuesday when her estranged husband approached them and began to stab Marissa.

Marissa died a short time later at Gateway Regional Medical Center.

Police arrested Tyrone Stainback, 42, shortly after the stabbing.

A judge has denied bond for Stainback.
