SPANISH LAKE, Mo. (AP) - A 17-year-old suspect is in custody in the hit-and-run death of a St. Louis County toddler.
Police say the teenager was arrested Monday, hours after investigators found the 2013 Dodge Durango that struck and killed 2-year-old Darrion Griffin. The child was struck Sunday evening in north St. Louis County. A 17-year-old female relative of Darrion was also hit as she tried to pull the child to safety.
Police say the suspect turned himself in.
Witnesses told police that the child was trying to cross the street to play with his sister when a speeding SUV hit him.
