ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — There’s no sand left in the hourglass for Cupples 7. Next week it comes down.
The unstable building has been the talk of Vertical Realty Advisors and the city for weeks, but the Mayor’s Chief of Staff Jeff Rainford says both now agree that the incentives Vertical was seeking wouldn’t work.
“Vertical Realty went back to the drawing board and based on the latest email I saw today they’re still trying,” Rainford said. “They admit and we agree that them being able to pull this off is a long shot.”
It’s a multi-million dollar endeavor just to shore-up the foundation. Rainford says Monday is now drop-dead day for 7, which would leave a grassy field in the middle of what’s been a successfully redeveloped district of red brick warehouses.
