“Yankee Doodle Dandy” starring James Cagney, Walter Huston and Joan Leslie will be shown at 10:30 AM at The Hi Pointe Theater on Saturday, July 13, as part of their Classic Film Series. The series screens a classic motion picture every month.
The movie is a representation of the career of George M. Cohan who was a composer, playwright, actor, singer and dancer whose career began in 1904 when Cohan, as a child, joined his family’s act in vaudeville. Cohan died in 1942, the same year this move was released.
James Cagney won an Oscar for best actor for his portrayal of George M. Cohan in this motion picture.
Admission is $5 per person for all ages. I will introduce the film at 10:30. For more information, click on the link below. The Hi Pointe has been showing quality films in St. Louis since 1922. Their regular main attraction right now is the mega-hit, “Despicable Me 2.”
