Teen Charged in Hit and Run Death of 9 Year Old Boy

Kevin PowellST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Charges have been filed in the hit and run death of a Cahokia area boy.

17 year old Kevin Powell of Washington Park faces Reckless Homicide, Failure to Report an Accident Involving Death, Obstruction of Justice , Destruction of Evidence, Driving without a Valid Driver’s License, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. He is jailed on $100,000 bond.

9 year old Fabian Teson was struck while riding his bike on Lorraine Drive near Cahokia.

St. Clair County Sheriff Richard Watson says this was a case where the community listened and responded.

“The media really helped in this case. They were getting the message out and we found the car at Lacledes Landing.” Sheriff Watson told KMOX.

Prosecutors in St Clair County may not be finished issuing warrants. There is word others may be charged.
