Two More Charged in Cahokia Hit-and-Run Death

CAHOKIA, Ill. (KMOX) – Three people have now been charged in the July 11 hit-and-run death of a child in rural Cahokia.

Fabian Teson, 9, was hit by a car while riding his bike. He later died at a St. Louis hospital.

A press conference scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Belleville Thursday was postponed as prosecutors amassed charges and organized documents. A spokesperson told reporters that the case at that time was “broadening.”

St. Clair County Sheriff Rick Watson says the alleged driver, Kevin Powell, 17, of Washington Park faces reckless homicide and other charges, including obstruction of justice. His bond was set at $100,000.

Alysa Sherwood, 25, of Washington Park is charged with obstruction of justice, permitting an unauthorized person to drive, and renting a car to a person who didn’t have a valid license. Her bond is $30,000.

Devan Harris, 17, of Cahokia faces two counts of obstruction of justice. His bond is $20,000.

A funeral for Teson was held Thursday.
